“Surely the match against Inter has a special flavor considering the past that I had with the Nerazzurri.” These are words from Maicon in an interview for the match program of Roma for the match against his former team Inter: “On Saturday – the Brazilian full-back continues – it will be a difficult match and at the same time a very important one. We are very close in the standings and three points for us would mean a nice gap. I have faith.”
The focus of the conversation then moved on to the opponent, the Inter who started off towards the first positions and then became a bit lost: “They started very well, won difficult matches and seemed to have the potential to compete for the Scudetto. Then they fell back, which can happen in the Italian championship, and the teams that were behind took advantage of that. Now they are back to playing good football, they have proved their worth and want a place in Europe. Who scares me the most? I fear the group and the strength on the bench. Mancini is great, he knows football to perfection and knows how to give motivation to his players.”

If it wasn’t for the imperishable J. Zanetti, this man would be my favorite RB of all time. I’ll never forget that volley against Jube, pure class!
yes man. same here. will never understand how we could let maicon go in his prime… he should have been one of the players to stay and build a team around after winning cl 2010.. we kept the some wrong and let the best ones go…. so sad… he could have finished his career here…
anyways i really think we should go after serge aurier… what a chance for us to get a world class RB coz i guess not so many teams want him right now…
Inter made some huge mistakes after 2010, first and foremost not re-signing Ibrahimovic, who wanted to come back to the club. Also, as you stated with Maicon, who Inter either should’ve kept or sold him to Real Madrid for a hefty transfer fee right after that season. The worst of them all tho imo, is Sneijder. We sold him to Galatasaray for 7.5 Mill. € in January when we could’ve gotten upwards of 30 Mill. € for him in the summer, or could’ve just kept him around and not have the huge whole in our squad for a playmaker right now
