Mancini to Sky: “We have passed the difficult times”

After the brilliant victory over Napoli 2-0, Roberto Mancini spoke to Sky Sport. “Everyone played well, especially in the first 25 minutes giving little room to Napoli who dribbled much better than us. Then when Kondogbia started playing the game changed. If Icardi can improve? He’s young, you improve even after turning 30. He can improve every day, like everyone else. You don’t beat Napoli without risking anything.”

A little regret for the many players who are gearing up now?
“I don’t see it that way. The moments alternate. It is the same for Kondogbia as it is for all those who come from other leagues. “I think they could have done better at certain times of the season. They have different characteristics and can do better. Today, they did well, others a little less, but it can happen.”

When it comes to the defense, the second half was a step forward against a great team.
“Of course. Then it is obvious that you can’t think of not conceding anything. They have good midfielders, their left side pushed well. But having conceding so little means that everyone did well, in defense and in the middle.”

Is the third place still an attainable objective?
“We don’t have many chances, but we have to fight until the end. Then we’ll see where we are at the end of the championship.”

Now the danger is the lapse in concentration against a smaller team?
“It can happen that you win against Juventus or Napoli and then lose to smaller teams. We are a good team that unfortunately lost some points stupidly on the way. In building a team, there are difficult times and we have passed them. There are teams that are superior to us because they have played together for more years, like the three teams ahead of us and perhaps also Fiorentina. But in head to head we always did well.”
