The 12:30 kick off time is here to stay in Italy Corriere dello Sport report. The “Suning factor” has played a part with Inter’s owners purchasing multiple top league TV rights in recent weeks and months. Infront Italy (The company which controls the rights for international sports and provides services) CEO Luigi De Siervo spoke on the model: “The Spanish model will not be replicated in Italy. Or, at least, will not be the pattern suggested by Infront to the League. For six months we have been working hard to present to clubs a complete and thorough analysis on the situation of European championships television appetites and make it more attractive. I understand that China is an increasingly important market for the Serie A and will do everything to exploit it in the most profitable way. We want and we must take into account the opinions of all the league clubs, including the less favourable ones. So, at least three matches will be played on Sunday afternoons.”

well, if we want to keep it up with high revenue clubs that’s what serie A has to do…
Think it is a logical step-if Serie A wants to earn more money from China playing live matches at favorable hours (12.30 is prime time in China) makes perfect sense. That’s one of the factors the English PL has used to grow into the most popular league in the world (besides the Champions League of course). They are playing at hours that are very favorable for people in Asia, Europe and the States.
I personally like the middays games! It’s “easier” to see the game and then plan the rest of the day with your family than, spending the day with them and then all of a sudden “leave them” when it’s “cozy-in-front-of-the-TV-time”.
