Barcelona are considering Inter’s Geoffrey Kondogbia should they be unable to acquire primary midfield target Marco Verratti, Goal.com have revealed.
Barca are a long way away from making a move for Kondogbia but have made initial contact to see if the Frenchman is in fact interested in swapping the San Siro for the Camp Nou. The 24 year old is understood to be happy currently at the Nerazzurri.
Kondogbia is not the only name that the Blaugrana have in mind should they not get Verratti. Guangzhou Evergrande’s Paulinho is a target and initial talks are underway with the Brazilian and his represenatives. The former Spurs midfielder has a €35 million release clause, something the Barca leadership are unwilling to pay. Moreover, his release from the Chinese club will not be easy. Not only do they not want to sell one of their few foreign players but due to new rules on foreign transfers, they would struggle to replace him with a player of a similar calibre without paying a very pretty penny.
