Former Inter and current Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho spoke to The Times on the idea of him being a “short-term manager.”: “After winning the Champions League with Porto and Inter, I left. I left Real Madrid when the club wanted me to stay – the only place I was fired was Chelsea, but always after winning the title – I do not think I’m a short-term manager. I prepare clubs for success, so my successor can train a top club.”

I don’t think we can blame him for what happened at Inter after he left. We didn’t manage to expand the brand after winning the CL, the market crisis hit Moratti hard and we were not prepared to meet the new FFP regulations back then. Football is business nowadays and people like Moratti with passion in their hearts are happy just to see the club win, but it’s no longer enough.
So you blame the market crisis that hit the world 2008 and not came as a huge surprise like a thief during the night in the middle of 2010, for our almost bankruptcy?
Moratti had Inter for almost 20 years and he perfectly new about the market movements due to his work at his beloved oil company which he sold at a good price when the crisis had long ago hit the world and oil prices were going upwards again. He didn’t do a single thing in the 20 years he had the club to prepare Inter for a post-sugar-daddy-period which meant when he left we went south and had to sell all our best players, cut vageges and buy average cheap players.
The idea about the Uefa FFP is not new and were agreed on in 2009 many years before Moratti sold the club so the footballing world knew about the FFP way before it were agreed on.
Moratti was an old fool who only wanted to do what his father had done with Inter – to win everything with their beloved toy called Inter, and when he had done so by winning the CL he stopped posting money into the club and left us almost bankrupted – Abramovic at Chelsea has done a must greater work in making Chelsea into a club that actually makes money and can buy great players without the help of his oil money, unlike our own “old fool”!
About Mourinho; he is a man who coach clubs with money enough to spend on great players – like Mancini – but he isn’t a man who knows how to coach his young players into better one, unlike Spalletti!
thats a bit harsh, easy to conclude in the year 2017 and doesnt do justice to moratti and what he has done for this club… please lil bit more respect.
no reason to offend him moreover its just not true to say inter was just a toy for moratti… thats ridicolous coz thats definately not his character.
he was the right man in the right time and then the whole serie a went down.. ye ffp was annouced but nobody in serie a could have imagined the downfall how it went after being the actual champions league of europe for years…
it wasnt just 3-4 clubs who had incapable owners and then messed up… seemed like it had to hit the whole serie a becoz of the whole dealing on the market back then in general. that was just how business was done back then in italy and im so thankful we had moratti for this period coz thats why we became the club we are now with all the titles we harvested til 2010… lol how can u even blame him…
we just need to set up a decent management for nowadays football business and once that is done i might even forget about the transition era with nagatomo^^
afterwards its always easy to conclude… but moratti may he retire in peace. its up to others now and u cant tell me that there is not enough foundation for this club to get the best of it if u are a modern smart manager. please
Many things I don’t agree with here and I doubt you have been a Inter supporter for more than 10 years or so, because otherwise you wouldn’t downrate the exstremly bad work Moratti did back then.
Yes he brought in a lot of players, but the club couldn’t pay the salary for all of these great players meaning our debts rose trough the roof at his 20years at the helmet, and when he left he left us as a smoking ruin in debts up until both legs.
Moratti was great at firing coaches and selling players if they didn’t perform right away and buy in new ones all of which meant spending shit loads of money simply because he didn’t have a plan or an idea on where to go with the club.
The only thing he was thinking about was to win as much as his dad, and that’s also why he fired a winning coach (Mancini) and replaced him with Moruinho – only because he wanted the CL so bad.
When he had won 5 Scudetti in a row and a CL he had one the same as his dad and left.
He didn’t prepare the club for a post-Moratti time, there was no brand-expansion world wide, not even when we were doing well in the CL or when we actually had win it- we never played games in America or Asia to promote ourselves like they did in England and he never tryed to get in a new main sponsor instead of super cheap Pirelli. And he never tried to build nor buy us a new stadium.
About him winning us a lot of titles: that’s simply not true! He was our president and owner for almost 19 yeas and in hat periode he only managed to win 5 Scudetti, 4 coppa italia 1 Uefa cup and 1 Champions
League title. But our debts exploded with him at the helmet and, as I said, nothing was spend on making the club self sustainable at all and when he disided that he didn’t want to spend anymore on is toy, Inter, he sold it!
ehh sorry but stopped reading after the first paragraph. had to often here discussion with ppl that are trying to tell others how long they are interista coz of different views… its just senseless to discuss wit ppl who need to make something up without knowledge just for the reason in saying something…
plus i dont even get the sentence end of first paragraph.. coz im not downrating his work… as i said.. i think he was the right guy even with his flaws so no reason to bash him…
but ya i said what i think, dont have time to correct ppl who interpreting and mixing stuff up, not today 😉
If you are old enough to have experienced how Moratti brought the club from Pellegrini, changed it into that days “PSG or Chelsea” by buying shit loads of players, firing and hiring shit loads of coaches and generating more and more debt at the club, and then when the CL title came in, he stoped paying the clubs bills and sold it all – then you too would think like me!
We won 5 Scudetti, 1 Uefa cup and 1 champions league title but have been broke for 7 years now and will spend the next year(s) struggleing too, all because of Moratti’s handeling of the club!
Respect??? I loved him back then true, but when I realized he had run the club into bankruptcy I changed my view on him!!
I was talking about it not being Mourinho’s fault. Moratti indeed had enough time to react, but didn’t, so he can take a hefty load of blame. Maybe due to being naive or rigid at his age, maybe didn’t expect things to go that bad, maybe a lot of things. He’s still one of the biggest fans of the club though.
I know his one of the clubs biggest fans but that doesn’t make his total lack of vision for the club okay.
Look at jive; they went to the serie b, and back to the top of the world in only 11 years and how? Because of great planing for the future. They opened their new stadium not yesterday, but 2011!!!
