The Gazzetta Dello Sport talked about Joao Mario and Icardi in regarding the tactics. “The former Sporting player was the first failure of the night, certified by the replacement after five minutes in the second half. With the entrance of Eder Inter earned something more in terms of dynamism but not so much in production. This is because the problem is more structural: When Inter was able to recover the ball and the player with ball move towards the half of the opposing field all the other players run towards the goal without helping the player with the ball. Candreva lost 30 balls and crossed many times but many of them wrong. Perisic was only seen when he cut towards the center showing his quality. Icardi was once again one of the scorers but the only movement that he used was using the depth. Maurito has touched the misery of 18 balls while Petkovic, Bologna’s centre forward touched 47 balls with 9 of them played backward to open space for his companions”.

Mauro has Always been apart of the problems we sufferd the past 4 years and they will continue until he learns how to drop low and learn how to recive a ball and hold it.
Mario plays better in CM, maybe we could play eder in a false 9 for a change and bring in icardi in the 2nd half?
like pre season, good enough to beat bayern, and chelsea!
I like how everyone here in the comment thread is avoiding that Icardi was one of the problems for us as well…
Mario is not the problem: tactically speaking the problem is clearly mario and an underperforming borja/full backs. Poor vecino had to carry the team… icardi is as good as the support he gets and candy/perri were very avg last night.
Also enough with the candy hate: the guy Is the definition of solid and reliable… people calling to swap in cancelo or karamoh immediately… seeing people propose a switch to a 3cb formation when we have 4 total cb in the squad haha!!! FIFA managers everywhere, You know people earn UEFA badges right?
Candreva had a bad game, yes, but if one wants to find the positive, since we are going to need him anyway, he is the one who created (with a great ,great play by the way) the clear chance where JM missed the easy goal in the first minute and also the good cross for Eder which ended in the lucky PK.
So,at the end of the day Candreva still produced more than JM, and obviously more than Vecino or Valero.
And Perisic yesterday didn’t do much either, let’s admit it.
I think this week ,Crotone and Spal included ,was a bad period of form for MANY players, not just Candreva.
But people have to take one or two players as “the bad guys” … the ONLY ones…culpable of everything..but it’s not like that.
I still have some good sensations for this season.
I still see some positive, as long as we work hard on the necessary betterments and take some necessary arrangements .
.
And watch Napoli and Juve today,I bet they are not BOTH going to surpass us.
At the end of the day we will probably still be in second place with only one team ahead.
Maybe.. maybe….neither one of them will win.
Who knows?
Watch out.
First half:
Lazio-Napoli 1-0.
Juve-Fiore 0-0.
Only the first half…but ..just saying.
Juve-Fiore 1-0….just had to let you know
Yes I know ,so?
No pk but red card for Badelj
It’s over,juve on top with Napoli,juve fiore 1-0
if it wasn’t for a PK inter would have last to Bologna so i wouldn’t use VAR as an excuse…….
What are u blabbering about?
No clue/
Shut that fat slit you call a mouth!
Juve was handed at least 10 scudetti! You guys are the shame of Europe and prevent proper investment in the league: our league and the nation of Italy becomes a farce due to your corruption.
You guys swallowed 3 against Barca with the whole world watching… poker from real and sooner or later I’m waiting to see the manita
Hope spalletti read the article and took some notes. Even the commentary on the tv last night could not figure out why candreva was still playing
I don’t get it, this is the 4th coach with Candreva and they all treat him like he’s Messi and must never taste the bench. While in fact, no matter the coach, he’s still the same frustrating players with the worst decisions making ever. Of course sometimes he gets an assist or a goal and it’s all forgotten but how can you lose 30 balls and not get punished by the coach ?? Even if u help out in defense this is too much
Hats down to that comment. Well well said
He brings leadership and workrate, in my opinion that’s why he is always favoured.
Who else will play in his position though?
Well technically we bought this karamoh guy to be his back up right ? Or like Gabi, he is not ready ? Maybe when Candreva is having a bad game, we can sub him with Eder or try JM there. Idk but sometimes I think he needs to taste the bench and think about all the balls he lost stupidly…
Cancelo could prove to be a better right winger than full back.
Icardi has touched 18 balls. Petkovic touched 47 balls.
Well, that’s gay.
xd
J Mario cannot play as our attacking midfield. He sucks in that position. And given how crap Cantdreva has been, Spalletti should bench him and play J Mario on RW.
Cantdreva hahaha nice
Mario lacks pace and explosiveness to be a winger. He can play there but it is not where he is at his best. He is a real central midfielder. Good at maintaining midfield tempo, can beat a man and is not that useless in defense as most here think. He is easily just as effective as Vecino in defensive part.
Agreed
I agree with you. I believe his natural position is a CM. I feel that he is suffering from the same issue Kovacic suffered, which is that no coach can find the perfect position for him. Let’s wait and see. I would trust Vecino more though.
