Inter dropped points for the first time in Serie A this season away to Bologna on Tuesday night.
The 1-1 draw not only stopped Icardi & co. from taking home their 5th straight win & prolong their perfect start to the season, but it also highlighted a few cracks in the Inter defence that up to now we hadn’t seen before.
Match data from OPTA Statistics showed that Bologna took the lead on Tuesday night with their 6th shot in just the 32nd minute of the game (equivalent to a shot every 5 mins 20 seconds up to that point). This was a period in the game where Inter failed to break out of their own half at times & suffered with the running on & off the ball of Simone Verdi & Federico Di Francesco of Bologna who combined well to cause panic amongst the Inter backline.
Milan currently hold the record this season for most shots in the early stages of a game in Serie A season with 7 in just one half.

as long as we play mediocre fullbacks like naga and dumbro our defense will look like shit. especially in a match where the enemy team played full pressing all over the place.
a high class FB will shine in that situation, given the opportunity to play wider and provides extra dimensions and run through channels. but with naga and dumbo you can only dream for that to happen. instead they will be our weak links, with unnecessary mistakes and poor ball control and body balance. giving doors for enemies to make plays from their spaces. and make our CB’s life harder.
agreed, dumbo is a player that his class is not belong at inter’s level. he can’t offer something worthy for defence or attacking support. while naga, he not even better than santon at treble years.
any defence in the world would crack up sooner or later. Inter sorely lack quality defenders at the moment and after the game they were clearly fatigue. yes this is worrying for Inter in the long run but this statistic is only based on the first 4-5 games. and take in mind that this defense is still new; skiniar only joined Inter so this is understandable.
before the draw : inter defence is very solid
after one goal from bologna : inter has crack in defence
just a bullshit italian media
We’ve given up 2 goals so far this season and have 13pts out of 15, everyone making it seem like world is failing around us….You can’t win every game, bound to drop pts along the way. I think we have a good rotation of mid fielders but we’re missing an AMF, Mario isn’t one and the guy can’t shoot from outside the box.
I agree but the problem is that wins over SPAL and especially Crotone were very unconvincing. We shouldn’t have won against Crotone, we were lucky. Bologna finally exposed this. Our only real performance was against Fiorentina.
I hate how very often nobody runs at the player who is preparing to shoot. That is the first thing you learn when you play any football in your life. Block the damn ball. Don’t give them space for breathing.
Those shots were completely because of the midfield. Allowed too much space for long shots.
