A three way battle is brewing regarding the future of Stadio Giuseppe Meazza in Milano’s San Siro district between the council of the City of Milano, Inter and AC Milan. Talks have been ongoing on for months regarding the refurbishment of the stadium that was furbished for the 1990 FIFA World Cup without any solution being on the horizon, according to Corriere della Sera.
“Inter see the San Siro as indispensable though they would love to have the stadium all by themselves and rename it after Suning. AC Milan on the other hand had opened up to the possibility of building a new stadium and have asked the City council to evaluate possible areas.”
“There is a project ready to refurbish the San Siro and it would cost around €250 million. Inter is the team with the highest average attendance average at 58.000 so far this season and the idea, in collaboration with Milan, is to lower the capacity of the stadium from 80000 to 60000” Corriere della Sera report.
Pls not 60,000…. At least 75,000 minimum is ok.
We are expecting the crowd to reach around 75000 and they are thinking of lowering the capacity to 60000?
Lower capacity means more money. Replacing top tier with skyboxes and restaurants will multiply or revenue times over. 60,000 also ensures Stadium is always full.
Yes, it still is something to regret.
Leaving all those people out…we could easily reach 90,000 for big Champions League games or scudetto level serie A games in the near future if we could have that many seats and kept on getting stronger…
..and for a game with Torino at 12:30..
Think how many people a “Grande Inter ” winning scudetto and playing big Champions League games at night could have…
Over 90,000 if we could seat them all.
Easily.
Exactly my point
