Inter fans are already looking forward to the January transfer market, to see if the management team can sign an a player to add to certain departments where some extra quality is needed.
As is well known, there is a gap in the centre of defence since Vanheudsen’s injury, as there are only Miranda and Skriniar, although Ranocchia has replaced Miranda well against Chievo and Pordenone. The most discussed shortcoming in the squad is that of a real attacking midfielder. A backup to Icardi could also be needed in case of injuries. However; according to SkySport Inter’s next transfer, will be purely self-financed, so they will intervene on the market if they can sell first. The most likely to be sold is Joao Mario who at the moment does not seem to be an integral part of Spalletti’s project. If a convincing offer arrives, then Inter will be able to bring someone else.
Hmm. It seems Inter has to break even with their finances before July, so most likely no players will be bought except for next to nothing. Except of course if some club accepts to sell a player with initial loan and money paid only after next July. Selling or trading Joao Mario would bring some room for adding new players, but I´m a bit sceptical about how wise it is to transfer him, because a) His market value right now is probably quite low compared to what it could/should optimally be for a player of his talent b) JM is a very good player who can still contribute a lot this season c) He knows Spalletti´s tactics and has adapted to them unlike his possible replacements.
Last July the club “only” had to have a -30 millions result on their balance sheet, so probably next summer (break even result) will be even harder. They have to make shit load of good sponsorship deals, hope they can add some of the CL qualification money – if that happens – on this seasons balance sheet and most likely sell some players. Because of that, even if I like to dream, there won´t be any major purchases until after July 1st 2017. After that the deal Thorir made with UEFA will come to an end, if I have understood our FFP situation correctly. Hopefully after that the budget for player purchases will be bigger. God I fucking hate FFP.
