Cagliari’s Sporting Director Giovanni Rossi was asked what kind of person Nicola Barella – who is on Juventus, Inter and many other big clubs radars – is.

“He reflects the Sardinian mentality: he is proud, stubborn and very generous,” Rossi told Tuttosport.

Despite a wealth of interest from within the Italian peninsula, Rossi admitted that he thinks the best offers will not certainly arrive from Italy.

“Since there are nations that have economically passed us, I would not be surprised if the most important offers came from abroad.”

Barella is one of Serie A’s hottest prospects and has been a near ever present feature in the Rossoblu side this term. The 20-year-old central midfielder has missed just one game this term and has over half a century of appearance for Cagliari despite his tender age. Prying him away from Sardinia has been made even more difficult by the fact that he signed a contract renewal earlier this week which ties him to the club to 2022.
