Set to lose Alexis Sanchez either this transfer window or in the summer, Arsenal have started to shop around for the Chilean attacker’s replacement.

According to Portuguese newspaper A Bola, the North London club have joined Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint Germain in being interested in Inter captain Mauro Icardi.

The 24-year-old forward, who has 18 goals this season in 22 appearances in all competitions, has a release clause of €110 million that only foreign clubs can activate. The Gunners are understood to be willing to pay the release clause immediately to secure the signature of one of world football’s top strikers and soften the blow of losing a player who possess the quality Sanchez has.

Icardi, who recently made his debut for the Argentine national team, has continually pledged his allegiance to Inter amid a wealth of interest in his services due to his prolific goal scoring for the Nerazzurri since arriving from Sampdoria back in 2013.
