Santos president Jose Carlos Peres has confirmed that the Brazilian club have reached an agreement in principal with Gabriel ‘Gabigol’ Barbosa over a return to the club and that talks have started with Inter to finalise a move.

“There are talks underway with Inter, We made our offer and now we are waiting for a response. It’s all done between ourselves and the player,” Peres, who was recently sworn in as the Peixe’s new president, revealed to Brazilian television channel FPF TV.

“Now it all depends on Inter, who are owned by the Chinese. We are moving toward an agreement,” he concluded.

Gabigol departed the club in the summer of 2016 but has not enjoyed the same success he had with the club in Europe. The 21-year-old found regular playing time difficult at Inter in his debut season which lead to him being loaned to Benfica this season but he faced the exact same problem in Portugal.
