Matteo Politano ended a good season for Sassuolo with an international call-up and a debut for Roberto Mancini’s new Italy team. The winger impressed during the campaign with his performances and goals attracting the interest of all of Serie A’s top teams.
Recent speculation since the end of the season has suggested that Inter are heavily interested in the 24 year-old winger, and now his agent Davide Lippi has confirmed this.
Lippi is also agent to an existing Inter player in Tommaso Berni and was at Inter Headquarters about Politano when he was quizzed about the Sassuolo winger: “I am here now for Berni. With regards to Politano we are working towards something for him. Are Inter still interested in him? Absolutely.”
With Antonio Candreva’s performances falling below expectations last season, Inter head coach Luciano Spalletti is looking to add more options to his side in key areas of the team with a long season ahead competing in both Serie A and the Champions League. Matteo Politano looks like the perfect fit for the side he wants to build.
