Football agent Andrea D’Amico spoke to Turin-based sports paper Tuttosport about this summer’s possible movers and shakers in the transfer market.

Ancelotti has returned to Italy with Napoli. Is this also to get some kind of revenge over Juventus?

“Carlo Ancelotti is a very balanced person. He’s not one to act against anyone, but only for his own cause.

“De Laurentiis has made a real coup as Ancelotti is one of the best in the business. He is someone who would be capable, for example, of convincing a Benzema to move to the Azzurri. He returns to Italy after having won with Chelsea, PSG, Real Madrid and Bayer Munich.

“He speaks, English, Spanish and German. These are important qualities for the modern contemporary manager: a real class act in every aspect.”

Staying with the theme of managers, you have always been full of praise for Walter Mazzarri

“I believe he is one of the best and more applied technicians around right now. He knows how to optimise the squad that is out at his disposal like few others can. Since his time at Reggina onwards he’s rarely messed up and has enhanced a whole host of players.

“I believe that he is the right man to realise Torino’s international ambitions.”

Do you think next season’s starting grid for Serie A will be as it was last August?

“The transfer window will help to tip the balance in certain directions, but Juventus for their organisational and management profile are still a cut above the rest. However the Bianconeri will have to amortise some important departures. Obviously Buffon but also Lichsteiner who played his part in the clubs success of recent years.”

How would you see Icardi at Juventus?

“He is an excellent player. For Inter he carries an important and specific weight however I return to my previous point of organisation and management. The Juventus model is ideal.

“Milan teams of old were born in Via Turati, but that Milan team kept winning because they had a dressing room of real men.”

What kind of market do you see developing over the coming weeks?

“I’m intrigued by that of the managers. After winning the Champions League and the FA Cup, I never imagined that Zidane would quit Real Madrid and Conte’s position at Chelsea would be so delicate.

“With regards to players I think Cristiano Ronaldo will do a good job of keeping it interesting.”
