Gazzetta dello Sport have explored the reasons behind Inter passing up on Arturo Vidal at the last minute despite allegedly having a deal in place with Bayern Munich over his transfer.
Inter gave up on the Chilean international – who now appears set to join Barcelona – for technical reasons above all. Inter put things on standby once the opportunity arose to go after Luka Modric and during this time they were able to reflect and realised that while a good player, Vidal was not the most useful player to address the needs of Inter manager Luciano Spalletti.
The Milan based publication go on to report that Inter are in fact looking for someone in the mould of Vidal’s compatriot David Pizzaro, who Spalletti worked with at Roma for three years. Lucas Torriera is very similar to Pizzaro but Arsenal pipped the Nerazzurri and many other interested parties to the Uruguayan’s signature earlier this summer.
