Newly appointed Santos manager Cuca has revealed that on loan forward Gabigol has rejected moves elsewhere in favour of staying with his boyhood club and seeing out his loan spell.
“He has been requested from Valencia and some clubs in the Arab world, but he does not want to go,” Cuca explained at a press conference.
Cuca went on to explain the reasoning behind Gabigol not wanting to leave.
“He is an important player for us and I should not even have to say that. He does not want to leave because he would find it unfair to leave his teammates in this situation, and the fans must understand that he is on our side.”
The 21-year-old Brazilian striker, who joined Inter to much fanfare two summers ago in a €30 million deal, re-joined Santos on a year long loan deal back in January and has managed to score six goals in 22 appearances across all competitions since.
