Lautaro Martinez has spoken on Inter teammate and compatriot Mauro Icardi opening his goal scoring account with Argentina in last night’s 2-0 win over Mexico.

“Icardi’s goal is worth a lot to him because he was waiting for it. It is a reward for him being calm,” he told reporters in the mixed zone post-match.

He also spoke on interim manager Lionel Scaloni’s and gave his backing to him becoming the permanent manager.

“Without a doubt I would like to see him confirmed but for now we just have see what the decision of the Argentine football association will be.”
