Inter chief executive Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Marotta has attempted to further calm Inter fans down after the continued public tension between the club and club captain Mauro Icardi and his wife/agent Wanda Icardi over a new contract with the club.

“The fans should not worry, there’s no need to talk about this as controversy. These are typical dynamics in a football club, especially when approaching deadlines. There will be no problems, as both parties want to continue together and that is a common denominator that bodes well for the future,” he assured in an interview with broadcaster Rai Sport.

As per various reports, there is a big gap between supply and demand in negotiations that have been ongoing for some time. Wanda Icardi is understood to be demanding around €9 million in order to bring her husband/client’s salary in line with other stars in Serie A. Inter are meanwhile unwilling to meet such demands.
