Six years have passed, but the wound is still open. The loss in Berlin still stings for former coach of France, Raymond Domenech. In his autobiography ‘Tout Seul’ which was released a couple of days ago, he devotes several pages to talk about the World Cup final between his France and Italy. One of the people who disturbs his night’s sleep most is Marco Materazzi, the man who received the world famous, headbutt from Zinedine Zidane: “I often get complaints that I have said that Marco Materazzi was the real protagonist in the final. But everything suggests that it was so: Zizou scored on the penalty caused by Materazzi after a foul on Malouda. Materazzi was then the one who levelled the score. And you can’t forget about Zidane’s headbutt on Materazzi. I have never watched the game again on TV, but for a long time I dreamed if it is at night.”
