Inter are ahead of Manchester United and Real Madrid when it comes to potentially bringing in Antonio Conte as the new manager according to a report from Sport Mediaset.

Conte, who last managed Chelsea and has been without a job since last Summer, is understood to be commanding an almighty €9 million annual salary.

The 49-year-old is no stranger to Italian football having managed Arezzo, Bari, Atalanta, Siena and most notably Juventus.

Sport Mediaset have also downplayed the idea that Jose Mourinho could make a return to the Inter bench also following his recent sacking from Manchester United.

Mourinho spent two years in charge of Inter between 2008 and 2010 in which he delivered Inter the famous Triplete.

Following a recent interview, the idea of him making a return has grown but Sport Mediaset insist that at this moment at least, what he said in the interview is unlikely to lead to anything concrete.

Moreover, in order to convince Mourinho back if it did become more concrete, Inter would need to promise him an important team and make significant investment.
