Inter could make a move for Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku in the summer if Mauro Icardi leaves the club, according to La Repubblica.
Icardi has not featured for Inter since being stripped of the captaincy on 13 February and will miss at least the next two matches as well, officially because of a knee injury.
The forward is said to be convinced that Inter have removed the armband as a way of preparing supporters for his sale in the summer, with Luciano Spalletti against the idea of renewing his contract.
Lukaku has scored 13 goals in all competitions for United this season but is currently second-choice behind Marcus Rashford, leading to speculation he could leave in June.
Icardi will in theory be available for selection again at the end of this week when he completes a prescribed program of physiotherapy to treat his knee injury.
However, he could attempt to prolong his spell on the sidelines by presenting Inter with a medical certificate taken from a series of tests he had in Barcelona back in October.
