Tuttosport have taken a look at player’s debut season goal records that Lautaro Martinez is close to matching and could surpass by the end of the season.
The Argentine is closing in on scoring double digits in his debut campaign at Inter having notched his eighth goal of the season against Cagliari on Friday night.
He is just one goal off equalling the nine goals Mauro Icardi scored in his debut campaign back in 2013/14 and three off Julio Cruz’s debut campaign haul back in 2003/04.
The 15 goals scored by Ramon Diaz back in 1988/89 is also still within reach as is the 16 goal totals that both Hernan Crespo and Anton Valentino Angelillo scored in 2002/03 and 1957/58 respectively.
Barring a phenomenal run of form between now and the end of the season, it is near impossible that he will match compatriot Rodrigo Palacio’s 22 goals and almost completely impossible that he reaches the 30 scored by Diego Milito in his first year in Nerazzurri.
