Former Inter manager Gigi Simoni has shared his thoughts on the ongoing saga between Inter and Mauro Icardi.

The 26-year-old striker was recently stripped of the Inter captaincy and has not played since while the situation has not been helped by his outspoken wife/agent Wanda Icardi.

“I think we are witnessing a situation that is nothing short of surreal, in all my career I have never seen a situation like it and a player who makes themselves unavailable.

“Icardi is a great player and there a few players around quite like him. He could determine the fortunes of Inter for many years.

He added: “Things can not continue like this, especially for the good of the team.

Simoni then spoke on current Inter boss Luciano Spalletti and Max Allegri possibly replacing him.

“He is a very good coach and I would not question him as there are still a few months left until the end of the season.

“If Beppe Marotta decides to change the manager then Max would be the perfect coach, I know him well and he is a nice man with great skills.”

He concluded the interview by speaking on the Icardi-Paulo Dybala swap rumours.

“They are two extraordinary players who would be able to make the difference even in different jerseys.”
