Atletico Madrid centre back Diego Godin is just one step away from joining Inter according to a report from Spanish newspaper Marca.
The veteran Uruguayan, as per some reports from other sources within both Spain and Italy, has already agreed to a pre-contract with the Nerazzurri and he will join the club on a free transfer at the end of the season once his current deal in the Spanish capital expires.
Marca then go on to report that due to Godin’s seemingly inevitable departure from the Wanda Metropolitano, coupled with Bayern Munich’s strong interest in Lucas Hernandez, the Colchoneros are in the market for a new central defender.
Hernandez has an €80 million release clause in his contract and Atleti bosses are adamant that he will not leave for a single penny less than that. If the release clause is met, they will reinvest the money into signing Ajax starlet Matthijs de Ligt.
