A lackluster performance by Inter from kick off ensured that the Nerazzurri wont have any further Thursday games this season. It was a painful performance to watch and surely has put Spalletti’s job at risk.
Samir Handanovic – 7.5: Cant place any of the blame at Handa for the Jovic goal. Kept Inter alive in the contest and made some world class saves in the second half.
Danilo D’Ambrosio – 4.5: After a tough game in Frankfurt he had more of the same tonight. Always troubled by Kostic. A bit more secure as third central defender. Had no clue.
Stefan de Vrij – 5: The first major mistake he’s made. Not sure what the idea was and how he got it so wrong so early in the game. It set Inter up for failure.
Milan Skriniar – 7: Stepped up after realizing how much trouble and pressure de Vrij was in. Inter’s best defender and midfielder by far in the game.Mentally strong.
Cedric Soares – 5: Some decent set pieces and runs but nothing to write home about. First one to be pulled off and there were many under-performers.
Borja Valero – 4.5: Struggled with the tempo of the game from kick off. It’s clear he should only be used as an impact sub during games. Contributed nothing at all.
Matias Vecino – 5: He was involved in both defence and attack but his first touch and general play was at the usual average level. Too much quantity, zero quality.
Antonio Candreva – 5: Too involved in the attack for Inter and maybe that’s why Inter didn’t create much in the first half. Played as a wingback in the second half. Invisible.
Matteo Politano – 6: The only player who wanted to take on and beat players using his skill. Fought till the 80th minute and for long looked like the only one trying.
Ivan Perisic – 4: Played like he was hungover. Was missing for most parts of the game and messed up each opportunity. Looks like his mind is elsewhere again.
Keita Balde – 5: All Inter did was knock long balls to him in hope. Got free once and messed that chance up. Rusty and not a striker as proven in September.
Andrea Ranocchia – 5: Came on and played as a central defender in a 3 man defence. Inter were in trouble when they countered. Played as striker towards the end.
Sebastiano Esposito – 5.5: Nice to see a debutante. Learning the tough lessons at 16 can do no harm. Ran a lot and tried desperately and in vain to do anything positive.
Davide Merola – N/A: Another debut for another highly rated teenager. Didn’t get involved much but like Esposito ran for the 10 minutes or so he played.
Luciano Spalletti – 3: Didn’t have too many options off the bench to change the game. However the starting 11 played like zombies. Outclassed and outfought.
Hategan – 6: Not sure how D’Ambrosio gets booked and Rode continues to foul people. Didn’t have any major decisions to make and got most right.
Inter – 2: Wrong attitude, no hunger, no desire, no team work, no cohesion all night. Not sure if they are listening to Spalletti at the moment. Pathetic.
Agree? Disagree? Who do you think was Inter’s best player of the night?
