Mario Sconcerti dedicated part of his weekly newspaper column in Corriere della Sera to last night’s Derby della Madonnina which Inter deservedly won 3-2.

“It was a beautiful derby. It was intense and was as it should be. I think Inter won deservedly, but a draw would not have been scandalous,” he began.

“In the end Vecino and his initial position prevailed. The difference came in those first twenty minutes. This derby was one of the best games of the season.”

Sconcerti then examined what this match means in the grand scheme of things in terms of the Milanese clubs returning to former glories and he believes the clubs still have some way to go.

“The two clubs maybe reached the heights of their new objectives, which is to track Juventus.

“Both Milan as well as Inter are more or less exactly in the same place they were a year ago. They have a mountain left to climb.
