Inter striker Lautaro Martinez has revealed that Argentine giants Boca Juniors turned him away after he went on trial for them when he was a youngster.

“They told me that I had no power or speed and that I could come back if I had worked on it,” the now 22-year-old explained in an interview with ESPN.

He continued: “When I was 11, my mother did not let me go back as I was too small but at the age of 15 I made the decision to go back after they came back in for me but after what they said previously, I returned to Bahia Blanca. I was half resigned and angry.”

The Argentine international has been on Inter’s books since last Summer having joined in a €20 million move from boyhood side Racing Club.

In his debut campaign in Nerazzurri, he has made 29 appearances across all competitions in which he has scored nine goals and tallied two assists.
