Milan mayor Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Sala has revealed that he has been subjected to abuse across social media due to his stance on what the Milanese clubs should do with regard to the stadium.

“I called the management at both Milan and Inter Milan to tell them that I have been taking an avalanche of insults through social media even though I am not the director of the whole operation,” Sala, who is a known Inter fan, admitted.

Sala has long held the view that he would like to see the clubs remain at San Siro over moving out and building a new stadium which would in all likelihood result in the demolition of San Siro and believes that the fans of both clubs should get a say in things.

“It would be better to do a survey amongst both of their fan bases. The fans will tell them exactly what they want.”
