According to a report from French news outlet InfoFoot, Inter’s interest in Nicolas Pepe could have something to do with a possible return for Jose Mourinho at the club.

Mourinho famously led Inter to a treble during his tenure in charge and he has been linked with a return as current manager Luciano Spalletti’s future is right up in the air.

As per the report, Mourinho is a big fan of the Ivorian winger who has been one of the top performers in Ligue 1 this season for Lille, who find themselves in second place.

Mourinho has a close relationship with Lille’s sporting director Luis Campos which could assist Inter in their pursuit to sign the winger who has also attracted interest from Bayern Munich.

This season 23-year-old Pepe, who is under contract with the club until the end of the 2021/22 season, has made a total of 34 appearances across all competitions in which he has scored 19 goals and tallied 12 assists.
