Claudio Anellucci, the former agent of Edinson Cavani, has claimed that the Uruguayan was on the verge of joining Inter whilst Jose Mourinho was in charge.
“In 2010 we met Inter in Rome and we reached the agreement the day before the Italian Cup final but in the 20 days after it Inter did nothing else,” he said in an interview with One TV.
“Inter had Milito and Eto’o but Mourinho wanted Cavani, even though the competition for places was so great. In the end we chose to go to Napoli despite a lower salary being on offer.”
Cavani went on to score 104 goals in 136 appearances for Napoli and earned himself a big money move to French outfit Paris Saint Germain, where he remains to this day, in 2013.
Since joining PSG, the 32-year-old forward, who has played over 100 times for his country, has scored an impressive 192 goals in 274 appearances across all competitions.
