Mauro Icardi remains determined to stay at Inter and intends to begin preseason training with the Nerazzurri in July as normal, according to Telelombardia.
Inter want to sell their so-called star striker after a farcical second half of last season in which Icardi was stripped of the captaincy and refused to play for a month.
The forward wants another chance to prove how much he cares about the club, though, with wife and agent Wanda Nara unwilling to meet Inter for talks over his future.
The Icardis seem willing to let the surreal scenario descend into a summer-long standoff, which risks compromising Inter’s plans for the transfer window.
Reports earlier this week suggested Beppe Marotta would seek a meeting with Wanda to inform her of the club’s decision to sell her husband and client.
It appears this may not take place after all, though, which will allow the confusion and tension to linger on.
