Stefano Sensi will be looking to help Inter improve their possession play after the midfielder signs from Sassuolo, judging by statistics published in Gazzetta dello Sport today.

The 23-year-old was in Serie A’s top 10 last season for the number of touches per game, averaging 82.36 each weekend for the Neroverdi.

He was also in the top 15 for attempted and completed passes (54.87 per game), though, suggesting he could share play-making duties with Marcelo Brozovic for the Nerazzurri.

Sensi was effective when playing further forward as well, ranking 11th among Serie A’s midfielders for chances created (2.37 per match).

Antonio Conte will be looking for a significant defensive contribution from his midfielders and the Italian international should satisfy him there.

Sensi’s numbers for winning the ball back (5.5 per match) and interceptions (1.14) were both above the league’s average in terms of midfielders (4.3 and 0.7 respectively).

Inter are expected to sign Sensi on a paid loan (worth €5 million) with an option to buy for €20 million.
