Inter will keep a buy-back option for Andrea Pinamonti after they agreed to sell the striker to Genoa, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Nerazzurri did not want to sacrifice the 20-year-old, who scored five goals on loan for Frosinone last season and impressed at the FIFA Under-20 World Cup last month.

However, the need to recoup €45 million in ‘capital gains’ before Sunday’s deadline forced the club to change their minds.

Pinamonti will cost €16 million but Inter will have the chance to resign the youngster at the end of the season, in a bid to avoid another embarrassing incident after Nicolo Zaniolo exploded at Roma.

Genoa have offered the striker €1.8-2 million in wages and are hoping Pinamonti will accept their proposal.

Pinamonti was due to take part in the European Under-21 Championships in Italy this month but a knee injury forced him to withdraw from Gigi Di Biagio’s 23-man squad.
