Lautaro Martinez will not join Barcelona this summer despite reports the Catalan giants are preparing to pay his release clause, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

Radio La Red yesterday sparked panic among Inter supporters when they broke the news but Barca have many other priorities at this moment in time.

The La Liga champions already have Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, Philippe Coutinho and Ousmane Dembele up front and they are close to signing Antoine Griezmann too.

Lautaro is the only reference point among Inter’s attacking players at the moment with Antonio Conte hoping to radically reshuffle his options up front.

Gazzetta this morning reported any club willing to sign the 21-year-old would have no option but to trigger his €110 million release clause.

With Mauro Icardi on the way out and Romelu Lukaku not yet on the way in, Lautaro is the most ‘marketable’ forward Inter have and his future has never been in doubt.

El Toro scored nine goals in his debut season after joining from Racing Avellaneda twelve months ago.

He will not begin preparation for the new campaign until the start of August, due to Argentina’s participation in the Copa America, meaning he will miss the preseason training camp and the tour of Asia.
