Romelu Lukaku has his heart set on a move to Italy and has repeatedly told Manchester United he wants to join Inter, according to a high-profile Belgian journalist.
Kristof Terreur appeared on Sky Sports UK’s Transfer Talk podcast and confirmed the forward is waiting to move to the Nerazzurri.
However, he cast doubt over whether the move would actually happen due to Inter’s reduced budget.
“At the moment I’d say the deal will not happen because Inter don’t have the money,” Terreur said.
“They can spend across the next few years but United want all the money immediately and Inter can’t do that.
“Lukaku has been clear about the fact he wants to leave. He doesn’t want to play second fiddle at United. I spoke to him a few weeks ago and he wants to move to Italy.”
Lukaku made his intentions clear last month in an interview with Sport Mediaset after Belgium’s victory over Scotland.
The striker described Conte as ‘the best coach in the world’ and confirmed he had made a decision regarding his future.
