Mauro Icardi was absent from Inter’s morning training session on the eve of the first pre-season friendly with Lugano, according to a report from FCInterNews.it.

The Argentine skipped the on-field work that his teammates were going through as he was in the gym carrying out conditioning work instead.

During the course of last season, the 26-year-old striker stopped training for around two months and despite him coming back to play at the end of the season, his physical condition needs to be managed more carefully as fatigue is kicking in quicker.

The report also goes on to state that Radja Nainggolan played a full part in the morning session and was in high spirits, laughing and joking with his teammates, despite the complete uncertainty that surrounds his future with the club.

The Belgian, like Icardi, was told in no uncertain terms that he was no longer considered as part of the project going forward by club leaders.
