Sebastiano Esposito’s father has assured Inter supporters the forward ‘never thought’ about leaving the Nerazzurri this summer.
Inter tied the 17-year-old down to a new three-year deal last month, having fended off interest from Paris Saint-Germain and various other European clubs.
Agostino confirmed he was approached by several agents but insisted he’d had no desire to speak to any of them.
“Their proposals didn’t interest me in the slightest,” Agostino told FcInterNews.it.
“We’ve committed to a project and that project is called Inter. We’re proud of Sebastiano’s progress and we have to thank the Nerazzurri for always keeping their promises with him.
“A lot of Italian clubs wanted to take him on loan but they didn’t even listen to the offers that arrived.”
Esposito enjoyed a spectacular 2018-19 season at Inter, which saw him shine across numerous age categories before making his first-team debut in March.
His campaign was then rewarded with a new contract in June, with Agostino revealing he was ‘incredibly emotional’ after putting pen to paper.
“He looked us in the eye when we got into the taxi after leaving Inter’s offices, and he told us what he was feeling,” Agostino continued.
“He had a knot in his stomach and his heart was beating fast. He was more than happy with his new deal.
“We’re super proud of our son but Sebastiano just needs to stay humble and think about working hard. The important thing is that he doesn’t let anything go to his head and keeps listening to others, so he can improve day after day.
“He already made gigantic progress last season but there are always more goals to set and more dreams to fulfill.
“What will happen next depends on him and on Inter. We have complete faith in the Nerazzurri and we know Sebastiano will continue to improve there.”
Esposito flew out to Singapore yesterday with the rest of Inter’s first team, where he hopes to feature in their prestige friendlies under new boss Antonio Conte.
Agostino said his son had ‘a great relationship’ with Antonio Candreva, but added that he often sees him with Radja Nainggolan, Danilo D’Ambrosio and Matteo Politano as well.
“Sebastiano admires all the great players in Inter’s squad and will listen to advice from people who can help him become a better player,” he concluded.
