Antonio Conte assured Inter supporters his side were much improved in their performance against Juventus today.

The Nerazzurri lost 4-3 on penalties after Mattihjs De Ligt’s early own goal and Cristiano Ronaldo’s deflected free-kick led to a draw in normal time.

Conte was satisfied with his players’ display but urged them not to overlook the final score.

“On the one hand, I’m very happy because I have a group of players who are very willing to work for me,” the Italian told Inter TV.

“On the other, we lost on penalties, and we should always be angry when we lose, even when it’s on penalties in a friendly. Myself, the technical staff and the club’s management all need to have this feeling.

“We made a lot of improvements today compared to the match against Manchester United. You can see the team is starting to have an identity.

“The important thing is that the players understand they must always play with intensity. We need to go and press, so that when we have the ball we can express our footballing ideas.”

“We need to continue working hard with our heads down, like I always say. There’s a lot of work to do.”

Inter will play the final match of their preseason tour in Asia against Paris Saint-Germain in Macao on Saturday.

The Nerazzurri then face Tottenham and Valencia upon their Europe, before the new Serie A campaign begins on 24 August.
