Genoa made contact with Borja Valero’s agents today as the Rossoblu consider a move for the Inter midfielder, according to Gianluca Di Marzio.

Valero is expected to leave Inter this summer and Enrico Preziosi is interested in opening talks with the Nerazzurri.

Preziosi is also negotiating for Real Madrid’s Lucas Silva and Schalke’s Amine Harit, and it is unlikely he will secure deals for all three.

Valero made 27 league appearances under Luciano Spalletti last season but was frequently criticised by supporters for his lack of dynamism.

Antonio Conte gave the 34-year-old a cameo in Nanjing today as Inter drew with Juventus in the International Champions Cup, before losing on penalties.

The Italian has excluded Valero from his plans for the coming season, though, potentially because he lacks the intensity to thrive with his style of play.

Fiorentina were strongly linked with a move to resign the Spaniard last week, but wages could prove a stumbling block in that deal.

FcInter1908 tonight claimed Valero had no intention of leaving Inter this summer, though, so it may not be only the Viola missing out on him.
