Roma’s hard-line stance for Edin Dzeko is ‘only strategy’ because the Giallorossi know he will ultimately join Inter, according to Corriere dello Sport.

Dzeko was recently offered a new deal by Gianluca Petrachi as the capital club continue to demand €20 million from Inter.

The Bosnian has no interest in signing a fresh contract, though, because he has already committed himself to the Nerazzurri.

“Not only did Dzeko reject Roma’s contract offer, he also reiterated his desire to be allowed to join Inter,” the paper reported this morning.

“Following that, he again reminded the club how Stephan El Shaarawy was afford a different treatment.

“El Shaarawy only had one year left on his contract, just like Dzeko, but the moment he accepted Shanghai Shenhua’s offer he was allowed to leave for €16 million, which is less than they’ve asked from Inter.”

Roma have no intention to keep Dzeko until his contract expires next June, which would force the club to lose him for free.

Corriere assured they are simply looking to earn as much money as possible from his sale, because they are well aware Inter will get their man eventually.

Mauro Icardi was linked with a move to Roma in yesterday’s paper but that rumour was dismissed.
