Mauro Icardi remains Napoli’s top transfer target before the window shuts on 2 September, according to Gazzetta dello Sport’s online edition.

The Partneopei’s owner Aurelio De Laurentiis has informed Inter of his intention to sign the striker and is speaking frequently with his wife and agent Wanda Nara.

De Laurentiis is in no hurry to secure a deal for Icardi because the Argentine is his final objective for this summer.

Icardi has spoken to Napoli’s head coach Carlo Ancelotti and several of their players, but for now he remains more inclined to join Juventus.

Napoli sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli is monitoring Fernando Llorente as a Plan B if Icardi declines the Azzurri’s advances.

The former Tottenham striker, who is now a free agent, could be a useful alternative to Arkadiusz Milik in attack, who already has Ancelotti’s full confidence.

Inter have less than three weeks to offload their former captain and are hoping Icardi will accept Napoli or Roma’s offer.

Juventus seem to still be the favourites, though, with various reports suggesting they began talks back in January.
