Radja Nainggolan has admitted he found it very difficult to swap Roma for Inter last summer.

The Giallorossi placed the midfielder on the transfer market against his wishes and Luciano Spalletti took advantage, persuading him to move to San Siro.

But Nainggolan endured a difficult debut campaign at Inter, before the Nerazzurri loaned him out to Cagliari earlier this month.

In a pointed dig at Roma’s former sporting director Monchi, he told Sky Sport: “I parted company with Roma and that was a very big blow for me.

“I wasn’t blameless there either, but it was a personal decision from someone who then left, so I could have stayed.

“They’re decisions you have to take in certain moments which then become useless regrets.

“But I’m happy with the career I’ve had and with the decisions I’ve made. I hope I can still achieve great things again because I’m very eager to do so.”

Nainggolan scored seven goals for Inter last year in a season that was blighted by injury problems and disciplinary problems.

The midfielder was suspended from the Boxing Day fixture at home to Napoli after repeatedly showing up late for training.
