Barcelona manager Ernesto Valverde has confirmed that star man Lionel Messi’s thigh injury should not keep him out long term but admits to being unsure when he will be back.

“I don’t know how long he will have to stay out but we hope he can come back into the group soon. It is nothing serious, it is only a small problem and we will see how he does,” he said in his press conference ahead of Barcelona’s clash with Getafe tomorrow afternoon.

“When he is on the field, we have a different kind of strength, one that we miss when he is not there as he is such a decisive player but we have the resources to replace him. It is a set back sure, but we have to move on.”

Messi is almost certain to miss the match against Getafe and it now remains to be seen whether or not the Argentine superstar will be available for selection for Tuesday’s Champions League clash against Inter.
