Franck Ribery has shared his views on Serie A a few months after arriving at Fiorentina on a free transfer after his contract with Bayern Munich expired.

“Being applauded at San Siro by the AC Milan fans showed I made the right decision. Serie A is a good league and one that is known throughout the world. Juventus and Inter are both very strong, I have also liked Roma and Lazio whilst Napoli have grown over time,” he said in an interview with Milanese news outlet Corriere della Sera.

He also commented on the series of racist incidents that have occurred in his short time in Italy.

“I prefer to look at the beautiful side of things since I arrived, for example the passion of the fans who applaud you when you come on the pitch for warm-up. This is important.

“I played with Zidane, Henry and Thuram who told me: ‘football goes too fast, try to enjoy it.’ They were right. Now I understand it better. I do not understand racism because regardless if we are white or black, we are all the same, we are human beings.”
