In an interview with Italian radio station TMW Radio, Davide Lippi, the agent of Inter attacker Matteo Politano was asked how close his client came to joining Fiorentina during the Summer transfer window.

La Viola came in for the Italian international but Inter manager Antonio Conte is understood to have stopped him from leaving due to seeing him as part of his plans at the club.

“Was he close to Fiorentina? Now I do not want to talk about it because Inter never put him on the transfer market and the player was very happy to stay where he was,” he said.

“He is at a great team in Inter, he is having a great season and he is cutting a space out for himself in the team.”

Politano has made eight appearances across all competitions this season for the Nerazzurri. In 238 minutes on the field he has so far been unable to make any goal contributions.
