Inter and AC Milan are adamant that the only way forward is a new stadium and that renovating their current San Siro stadium is an impossible task according to a report in today’s paper edition of Gazzetta dello Sport.

Mark Van Huuksloot and Domenico Barile, the respective new stadium project managers for both clubs met with the city council to further elaborate on their plans for the new stadium as well as making it clear that the clubs only want a new stadium.

The clubs are set to invest a combined €1.2 billion into the project that will see a new state-of-the-art stadium built as well as the area surrounding the new stadium completely renovated to increase commercial opportunities.

The duo made it clear that after an in-depth study, renovating San Siro, just is not an option for several reasons from its quality, to its capacity being too big for the needs of the clubs and the environmental impact among others.

Answers to a third study which was looking into the possible restructuring of San Siro are also expected to arrive today – which should again confirm what the clubs have know.
