Inter and AC Milan have released a statement on the website dedicated to the new stadium sharing their delight at the news the city council have declared a public interest in the project.
“AC Milan and FC Internazionale Milano welcome the news of the approval of the agenda by the city council of Milan,” it begins.
“In recognising the public interest in the “Economic and Technical Feasibility Proposal” for the redevelopment of the San Siro area presented by the clubs, we can appreciate how the clubs’ vision to offer the city of Milan a new stadium with high standards of excellence and a new district at the service of its citizens.
“The clubs trust that the municipal council will accept the assent given by the council, resolving – in the expression of the public interest that will close this preliminary phase – all the fundamental themes that still need to be clarified in order to ensure the feasibility and economic sustainability of the project, such as the re-functionality of part of the Meazza and the accessory volumes related to the new stadium.”
It concludes: “AC Milan and FC Internazionale Milano continue the path of confrontation with all those involved, from the institutions to the citizens, in the need to respect the times set out in the Proposal.”
