In today’s print edition, Milanese news outlet Corriere della Sera have praised Inter strike force Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez for their continued good form but insist Inter need to still do more despite winning their eighth league game of the season against Brescia last night.
“The numbers speak for this strange Argentinian-Belgian couple who have scored 14 goals in the first 13 games of the season, 7 apiece. Toro has scored in five of the last six races, whilst the Belgian striker equalled Milito’s record by scoring five goals in his first five away games. The good news for Conte, who had never beaten Brescia before, ended here,” it begins.
“Had Balotelli been at his best, things might have ended up differently. Mario was a spectator during the match and insulted by the travelling Inter fans. He woke up in the second half but missed a resounding goal scoring chance and failed to get revenge on Conte, who never wanted him in the national team.”
The report concludes: “Fortunately for Inter, they were not missing character but in order to win the Scudetto they will need more. Much more.”
