Inter chief executive Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Marotta has insisted that the club will be ready to pounce in the January transfer window but first spoke on Mauro Icardi.
“What happened with Mauro Icardi? I cannot answer that because it was all decided before I arrived at the club,” he is quoted as saying in today’s print edition of Corriere dello Sport.
He then spoke about the fast approaching January transfer window.
“Should a significant opportunity present itself and we consider it valid according to the instructions given to us by the manager and the needs of the team then we will be ready to make a move.
“Conte is a careful coach and knows what to ask for. We talk constantly but, at the moment, we don’t ask for precise details. After the Brescia match we met very early the next morning. However, there were no specific requests made.
“There are still teams ahead of us. We have just started a new cycle and we will have great satisfaction like those that come from the very young Esposito.”
