Romelu Lukaku has not scored a goal in the Champions League group stage in just shy of two years, a report in today’s print edition of Corriere dello Sport highlights ahead of Inter’s match away to Borussia Dortmund tonight.
The Belgian striker, who joined Inter in a club record €65 million transfer from Manchester United this past Summer, last scored in the group stage of the competition back in December 2017 when he scored against CSKA Moscow.
Despite his struggles in the group stage in recent years, he is one of just six players – excluding the injured Alexis Sanchez – in the Inter team to have got a goal in the Champions League.
The 26-year-old has netted seven goals in Europe’s top continental club competition, with him most recently scoring in Manchester United’s 3-2 comeback win away to Paris Saint Germain in last season’s knockout stages.
Lukaku has been in fine form this season since his arrival at Inter with him having scored nine goals in first 13 games for the Nerazzurri.
